Risks you take when shopping for a limousine based on price alone

Price shopping when it comes to limousine service may not be your best bet.  Think about these things before reserving a limousine based on the cheapest price.
  • Your limousine does not show up. You miss your concert.
  • Your limousine shows up late. You miss your dinner engagement and Broadway play.
  • A 1987 model limousine rusting at the seams arrives at your door when you were expecting at a 2008 model. Instead of being lavished in luxury, you are embarrassed.
  • Your limousine shows up with an unprofessional chauffeur with poor hygiene.
  • Your limousine chauffeur exercises poor customer service with your company's most influential client. You loose the account.
  • Your limousine service gets into an accident and does not have proper insurance to cover the damages involved in your injuries.
  • Your limousine drops an axle during transport and you are injured. Turns out your service did not have the limousine safety inspected as state law mandates.
  • Your limousine breaks down on the freeway during transport to your wedding. You and your bridal party arrive late - but you saved $35.00

History of Limousines

Whether we’ve stared longingly at one, or had the pleasure of riding in one, the limousine has, since the early 18th century, offered a luxurious and stylish mode of transport for the rich and famous.

The words chauffeur and limousine have been used since before the 20th century when carriages and trains required professional drivers. The history of ‘limousine,’ the word, originated from the Limousin region of France where shepherds wore particular protective clothing that was later used by automobile drivers to protect them from the weather in the exposed cockpit.

The history of the limo can be traced back to the Sedan Chair of the 1720s up to the new the Hummer Stretch Limousine. Each mode of transport has reflected a symbol of status, oozing wealth, class and sophistication.

The first Stretch Limousine was created in Fort Smith, Arkansas as early as 1928 by a coach company called Armbruster. The cars were primarily used to transport famous big band leaders and orchestras along with their band equipment. As a result the early stretch cars were referred to as ‘big band buses.’

In the 1930s and ‘40s Airporter Stretch Coaches were used by hotels to transport guests from airports and by tourist companies for sightseeing. Around this time limos became a must-have by all Hollywood stars.

Farther along in the history of the limo, the luxury automobiles were increasingly for general use by American presidents and movie stars in the 1960s and ‘70s. Stretch limos became the norm for special occasions such as weddings and proms in the 1980s.

Today limousines can be used to make any occasion a day to remember.

Limo is home after a late night

Frank took the limo to Ft. Myers last night for a girls night out at the clubs.  Need to wash glasses, vacuum the inside and look for any items left behind.  Funny, how when people go out for the night in a limo, they leave things behind -- I am not any better, last time I was out in a limo I left my sunglasses.

Have to clean the car and get ready for another night out tomorrow night, 8 20-somethings going out to dinner and clubbing for a 22nd b-day celebration.

Have a great Sunday everyone!
